Here you can analyze what you eat and find which nutrients your body might be missing. You can do this by finding a certain food item or by creating menus. You can use this to plan meals, snacks, etc.. to be sure your body gets what it needs or to see you don't take in too much fat, etc.. One nice thing is to print out the results of your research (right mouse button)!
Due to limitations of the USDA DB some minor and important nutrients are not mentioned, like: Biotine, Choline, Vitamin K, ...
Anything that you would like here, you can always suggest via e-mail. Whether it be nice flash plug-ins (like interfaces), images, or nutritional information or updates, errors, suggestions, questions, .... This site could be seen as an open Website where everyone helps to make it better. Don't forget that I LOVE having new menu's on the public list :-)
Go explore and have fun and health!!
Technical: Most of the daily required values are taken from the RDI (Dietary Reference Intakes:) from NAP (National Academic Press) while the ones that were not noted there are taken from suggested healthy daily intakes. The nutrient information comes from the USDA Database for Standard reference. I know it is "quite American", but I can't find decent alternatives. Still open to suggestions though.
Never forget that every individual has his/her own requirements concerning food. So, the info provided here should only be a guide and not a strict rule for diets!
